Acne scars treatment ( blackheads)

Acne scars has a prevalence of over 90% among teenagers.

It may continue to adulthood in 14% of patients. Some may experience healing with proper treatment, while others may suffer from annoying acne scars of inflammatory acne lesions that penetrate deeply and damage the skin tissues beneath Especially blackheads.

In order to decide the proper treatment to undergo to make these scars less noticeable, probably you ‘d better identify the type of scars you suffer from.

Worthy of mention, The most common type is called the ”Atrophic” or, depressed -acne scars or cystic acne.

Many procedures are available and proved to be effective for the purpose of diminishing the appearance of this acne Especially hormonal acne
, and, in some cases.

it is the best option if scars were not too deep as follows :

1-Eliminate acne using one of these methods:

  • a)Laser skin Eliminate acne / fractional laser

( It is not a good option in case of having active acne lesions outbreak besides being ineffective on darker skin).

  • b) Chemical peeling

( using a strong acid that removes a skin layer and diminish deeper scars).

  • c) Microdermabrasion:

can be effective for very mild scars.

During the procedure, the dermatologist will use a tool to remove the top layer of your skin. Within a series of sessions, the skin will repair itself and regain its normal structure.

2- Filling:

Using fillers to plump the depressed acne scars and to fill it with collagen. Some fillers are permanent while others may last between 6 to 18 months. Each filler type has its advantages and disadvantages so, make sure to ask your dermatologist about the recommended type for you.

3- Skin tightening for loose skin:

A new procedure for treatment where radiofrequency is used to tighten the skin over repeated sessions which requires at-home care.

4-Collagen induction therapy:

Also called “needling” or “micro-needling” where a sterilized, needled roller is moved across the depressed acne scars.

Through the process of puncturing, your skin will reproduce collagen during the healing process. It is one of the safest treatment options for all skin colors .

On the other side, if your scars were raised above skin surface; “Hypertrophic scars “, you may submit to other acne scars treatment and management options:

1-Injections:

injecting medicine as Corticosteroids, interferon, or 5 fluorouracil directly into your scars once every few weeks. The best results usually require repeated visits.

2-Acne scar surgery:

followed by injection or radiation.

3-Laser therapy:

using pulsed- dye laser which is suitable for all types of acne scars.

4-Scar creams and gels:

cosmetic products that may help to decrease itch and discomfort besides diminishing the scars’ size .

While each treatment method has its cons and pros, it will improve rather than cure acne scars.

The best solution is to keep away from getting scars is to seek medical advice as soon as possible in order to get the proper management for your acne.

Additionally, try not to squeeze or pick any acne breakout to prevent any irritation or damaging to the underlying tissues.
